All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
· {And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds} [Quran 42:25]
· {Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allaah. Indeed, Allaah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."} [Quran 39:53]
And the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.” [Ibn Maajah]
If this person repents of his sin, no matter how grave it is, Allaah will accept his repentance. He should not despair of the mercy of Allaah and he should hasten to turn to Allaah in repentance. He should also conceal his sins and carry out as many good deeds as possible to expiate his sins. Verily, righteous deeds do away with misdeeds.
Moreover, he should know that not all cases of disclosing sins to people are considered blameworthy. Rather, there is no harm if the sinner informs his Sheikh or the like of his sin, seeking advice and guidance, or pursuing similar probable benefits; and this is not considered the forbidden exposure of one’s sins.
Allaah Knows best.
