Question:
Assalamu aleykum! I'm working in e-shop. Can you explain me please, is it permissible to change a name of a good if its present name is "Paradise" while i am not a director of the shop but only a manager? And is it permissible to put a photo of half-naked women wearing bathrobes or other clothes to advertise woman goods (bathrobes, gowns, dresses etc.)? Our e-shop attends both men and women JazakAllah Khairan.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.
You are not allowed to change the name of the product even if it is produced by the shop itself where you work unless the person in charge of this matter gives you permission to do so, let alone if the product is produced by another entity which had chosen a name and a logo for its product. So, you and other people in charge of the shop are not allowed to change the name and logo of the product without the permission and consent of the entity which produced it.
As regards putting pictures of half-naked women on the home page of the site of the e-shop that is visited by men and women, then this is not permissible as this is spreading evil and immorality and inciting desires; Allaah says (what means): {Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter...} [Quran 24:19]
As regards the ruling on selling products that have indecent pictures of women, then please refer to Fatwa 92037.
Allaah Knows best.
