All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
This question needs a long answer, but here we will just mention a brief summary. The Prophet used to wake up during the night and perform night prayer. Sometimes he used to perform the Witr prayer before going to sleep, and he used to pray Fajr in congregation (in the mosque).
After praying Fajr, he would remain sitting cross-legged in his praying place remembering Allaah until the sun rises. During the day, he used to perform many good deeds some of which are for the benefit of himself and some others are for the benefit of other people, such as making Da’wah (calling people) to Allaah, teaching people, judging between them, visiting them, fulfilling their needs, reconciling between them, and taking care of the affairs of the (Islamic) state. After the ‘Asr prayer, he would visit his wives to say Salaam to them.
Sometimes he may travel for Jihad, Hajj and ‘Umrah. During some nights, he would sit after ‘Isha with some of his Companions consulting them about some matters concerning the Muslim nation.
Also, he used to receive delegations. At some other times, he would sit after ‘Isha with some of his wives – the Mothers of the Believers – as they would get together in the house of one of them and he would talk to them.
The Prophet used to regularly offer supererogatory prayers and recite the mention of Allaah, and he would seek Allaah’s forgiveness in a single session more than one hundred times.
The scholars have authored books that clarify his actions at all times. Among these books is the book entitled “Zaad Al-Ma’aad” authored by Ibn Al-Qayyim and the book entitled “‘Aamal Al-Yawm Wal Laylah” authored by Ibn As-Sunni and the book entitled “Ash-Shamaa’il” by At-Tirmithi among many other books.
Allaah Knows best.
