Fasting for the sake of Allaah with the intention to get a job

Question:

Question : I am Looking for good Job. I want to keep Fasting to get good job.Allah (SWT) knows it well. My QUestion is ... Can i keep Fasting on Monday/Thursday by keeping Niyath for Getting Job. Hope this question is more clear.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.  I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is more appropriate for a Muslim to perform an act of worship for the Sake of Allaah without seeking anything except the pleasure of Allaah.

However, it is permissible for a Muslim to intend along with fasting for the Sake of Allaah to seek a need of this worldly life; this is considered as making Tawassul (seeking nearness to Allaah) through a good deed.

Therefore, it is permissible for you to fast with the mentioned intention but it is more appropriate to perform an act of worship purely for the purpose of getting closer to Allaah without seeking anything of this worldly life.
