All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The Companion whom Allaah has mentioned by name in the Quran is Zayd Ibn Haarithah in Chapter Al-Ahzaab, as Allaah Says (what means): {So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort [i.e. guilt] concerning the wives of their claimed [i.e. adopted] sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command [i.e. decree] of Allaah accomplished.}[Quran 33:37]
The Prophet had adopted him before he was commissioned as a Prophet, and Zayd used to be called Zayd Ibn Muhammad (i.e. the son of Muhammad), and the Prophet married him to his cousin Zaynab Bint Jahsh. Later, Zayd divorced Zaynab and then the Prophet married her as a way of abolishing the rule of adoption which was practiced in the Pre-Islamic Era.
Allaah Knows best.
