All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
We are not aware of Fasookh, as for Jawi, it is a type of incense which is permissible to use, and saying that it attracts jinn is not correct.
However, most magicians use certain kinds of incense and enchant them when they are trying to contact Jinn, in imitation of Christians and Sabians who enchanted, sold, bought, and used incense in their acts of worship. When Ibn Taymiyyah was asked about the innovations of Christians on Thursday and other days, he said that Satan tempted some Muslims into copying Christian acts on the last Thursday of their fasting period. On this day they commit many prohibitions, like enchanting incense at this time, or buying enchanted incense.
Enchanting incense and buying enchanted incense is a practice of the Christians and Sabians.
Incense is a type of perfume that people apply. Its smoke is as a perfume like all other perfumes.
In principle, it is permissible to apply perfume and all types of incense. However, if a certain type of incense is used by magicians and it has a well-known distinguishable smell, then a Muslim should not use in order to block the doors of evil and avoid being suspected and accused.
Allaah Knows best.
