All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
We have already issued Fataawa 117545 and 90127 clarifying that it is forbidden to wear a wig and that it is not permissible to wipe over it when performing ablution; rather, you should take it off. Besides, a wig made of the hair of a human being is even more forbidden because it is impermissible to benefit from the hair of a human being and from all parts of his body due to his honor and dignity. Rather, his hair, his nails and all parts of his body should be buried. Indeed, the jurists agreed that it is not permissible to benefit from the hair of a human being either by selling it or using it for any purpose because a human being is honored as Allaah Says (what means): {And We have certainty honored the children of Adam.}[Quran 17:70]
It is for this reason that the jurists stated that joining one’s hair with the hair of a human being is forbidden whether it is the hair of a man or a woman, and whether it is a hair of a Mahram, a spouse or else.
Moreover, wiping over the wig (the full-head coverage wig) when performing ablution is not sufficient, but if you wipe over what remains of your hair (in case you wear a partial coverage wig), then this wiping is sufficient according to many jurists ; the view of the Shaafi’i and Hanafi Schools is that it is sufficient to wipe over some of the hair. This opinion a strong one because it is confirmed from Ibn ‘Umar and ‘Aa’ishah .
Nonetheless, in order to be on the safe side, it is better for you to wipe over your entire head after taking off the wig in order to avoid the difference of opinion because some scholars are of the view that it is an obligation to wipe over the entire head. Therefore, dear brother, you are obligated to take off that wig.
In fact, boldness in men is something usual and it is not a deficiency that prevents him from socializing with people and it is not such a necessity that makes it lawful to commit what is forbidden. Instead of the wig, you may wear a hat, a cap or a turban and so forth.
Allaah Knows best.
